FIRST WEDDING ANNIVERSARY GIFT- oh the places we've been!

This is an A3 commission I was asked to do by my lovely Step Dad for my Mum to celebrate their first wedding anniversary.

They had a rather fabulous year, managing to clock up a pretty long list of lovely places visited. I was asked to include all of them in one large piece. I am very happy to say I fit them all in, and managed to sneakily put them in order. 

This is one of my favourite commissions, it was challenging, but so fun to do, and I get to see it framed on the wall whenever I visit, I'm sure for many years to come! (Thank goodness it wasn't a house plant, or that poor sod would be long gone :) Love you Mum!)

'BIKES AT BYRON BAY' PAPER CUT...

 This is an A4 commission given as a wedding gift to a lucky couple getting married at Byron Bay. I was given a list of things to include which were important to them, my favourite being the bikes by the lemon tree.

BIG & BUSHY PREVAILS! SIMPLE PAPER CUT BIRTHDAY GIFT.

This is an A5 paper cut commission, the customer wanted a simple yet thoughtful gift for her friend's 50th birthday. She asked me to include the cherished friend's family, their dog, and a few of her passions. I got one of my favourite responses to the initial design sketch when I was told to "make her hair even bigger and even bushier" I knew at this point, these were my kind of people.

Snowy Golden Wedding Anniversary Gift...

 On this cold and cosy day, I thought it would be nice to share a snowy commission I made a while ago. This is an A4 paper cut commissioned to give as a gift for a parents golden wedding anniversary, in gold of course. It includes the church they married in, a representation of the happy couple and their cake on the day, a few special places and some gorgeous little pigs! Not forgetting the snow to make the day complete.

BE IN LOVE WITH YOUR LIFE paper cut commission...

This was an incredibly difficult, but very special commission.

A lovely lady contacted me, as a group of friends wanted to cheer up another friend who was ill. They gave me a fantastically long list of the many things she loved, and the wonderful quote which instantly struck a chord with me.

However, I soon came to realise that the cut wasn't just for the friend, but for her young family to cherish in the future. When drawing the initial design, I received the devastating news that their friend had passed away. Whilst I was so shaken by how unfair this was for her family and friends, everything in the piece was so full of life, I had to see it as a celebration of such a happy life.

I have never worked on anything so important before. I wanted to bring some sort of joy to the family, even if it couldn't now, then maybe when it was looked at in the future.

This was such a humbling reminder for me, that life can be so fleeting, we shouldn't take anything for granted, especially those wonderful people we have around us. So please, be in love with your life, every minute of it.

Cozy December Wedding Paper Cut Commission...

This is a first wedding anniversary commission I cut a few years ago, for a couple who got married just before Christmas. They celebrated in a lovely cozy pub which I tried to replicate, whilst adding some extra personal details disguised as pictures on the wall.

WOODLAND LASER CUT WEDDING INVITES...

Here are some invites I was commissioned to make a few years ago.
I hand drew the design, and then after a little magic in Photoshop, I sent the design to the laser cutters. We chose a blue grey colour card so the burnt edging would not look too out of place. I was very happy with the outcome, and even happier I didn't have to hand cut each one!
The lovely couple then attached their printed information inside using a ribbon. This provided a background for the design and of course all the details of the wedding!

 I was also incredibly pleased with how they came delivered, they were all stacked in a box, making the design look 3D, how fun is this?!

A view of the Orwell Bridge in paper cut

This is a commission I made a few years ago, for a family moving into a new home with a lovely view of the River Orwell. The boat reads "Sardinian Dream" as they had dreams of moving to Sardinia. Two years on their dream is a reality, hopefully now this piece can remind them of sunny Suffolk!
